The International Conference on the Technology of Plasticity (ICTP), was founded in 1984 with the purpose of bringing together both academic experts and industrial engineers on metal forming issues and innovations. Nicknamed the ‘Metal Forming Olympics’, this major international event is held every three years around the world. Currently, it has grown into the largest academic society in the field of plasticity technology, with 600-1000 researchers participating.
ICTP’s previous venues are as follows: Tokyo, Japan (1984); Stuttgart, Germany (1987); Kyoto, Japan (1990); Beijing, China (1993); Columbus, Ohio, USA (1996); Erlangen, Germany (1999); Yokoyama, Japan (2002); Verona, Italy (2005); Gyeongju, Korea (2008); Aachen, Germany (2011); Nagoya, Japan (2014); Cambridge, UK (2017); Columbus, USA (2020+1) and Cannes, France (2023).
Now the 15th ICTP (The International Conference on the Technology of Plasticity) 2026 will be held at the “Jeju Shinhwa World” in Jeju island, Korea during October 11-16, 2026. Jeju island is a world natural heritage appointed by UNESCO.
ICTP is not only an academic society that presents the latest scientific achievements, but also a place to build a bridge between basic science and industrial applications. Bringing together international scientists and engineers from across industry, academia and government provides an opportunity not only to share the latest results with each other, but also to think about the solutions this ICTP community can provide to answer the key challenges related to industrial, social and environmental issues. Indeed, research and development in the field of metal forming is not only aimed at improving productivity and final part properties or reducing production costs; it is a key asset in answering the energy transition and sustainable development challenges that will shape our industry and society in the coming decades.
Jeju island is an excellent location for this conference in that it naturally attracts the participants due to its beauty. An excellent hospitality will be provided together with nice social programs, educational workshop, welcome & banquet dinner, cultural excursion. Welcome to ICTP 2026.
